5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect in practically every way, September 3, 2009

I love the straw and I love that it flips down. It stays out of sight of my two sons grubby hands. I love the loop at the top so that I can grab it quickly. I love that you have to bite the straw to get the water out because that will keep my one year old out of it for at least a little while. My 2 year old figured out how to do it in a day. It's well made and sturdy. I wish the neck of the bottle was a little wider because it makes pouring water or putting ice in it just a little harder. I bought the insulating sleeve and can't imagine this bottle without it. It cuts down on all the condensation, keeps my drinks colder for longer and has a strap on it that lets me hook the drink to my purse when I have no hands free. I recommend the insulating sleeve just as much as I recommend the bottle! I am very happy with this bottle!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great -unless condensation or "seeing" your water level are important, April 21, 2010

If you've never tried a Camelbak, then you must. You'll drink more water and actually enjoy doing so.

Bought this to replace my pre-2008 Camelbak (they didn't go BPA free until then). I imagine the stainless steel will hold up to drops on concrete and asphalt better. My girlfriend prefers the plastic model because she can see the water level. I get by fine just shaking it and "feeling" how full it is, but something to consider. Also, I own both kinds and the metal one does form more condensation. Again, not exactly a big deal but a potential buyer might want to know.

You can put your finger through the little hole at top when you are walking. My girlfriend uses a carabiner to hook it onto her laptop bag when she goes to work.

One potential drawback. This thing doesn't fit fully down inside my Mazda 3 cup holder. I own both this size and the smaller one that does fit, but I prefer this one. Camelbaks don't spill if they tip over and I'd rather... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks AWESOME, but I have issues, March 12, 2011

Let me just say first that I'm a big fan of Camelbak products - usually they're function FIRST, form second. I am not sure I can say that of this latest generation of water bottles.

They're quite sharp and the "HYDRATE OR DIE" logo is especially striking. But I have some issues with construction.

I suppose you can't expect a water bottle to be indestructible, but the problem with stainless steel is it makes you think something IS indestructible so when it's NOT you're very disappointed. I dropped one of these in the gym bathroom with somewhere around 14 oz water in it and it put a pretty sizable dent in the bottom corner. I was so frustrated with myself I ordered a new one.

That's understandable, it can't exactly be reinforced with concrete filler, but it's hefty look and feel is somewhat misleading.

My second and primary beef with this water bottle is that it LEAKS. It doesn't lean out of that famous Camelbak leak proof nipple - it... Read more
