5.0 out of 5 stars Legal carry in California, June 26, 2011

I just had to respond to the review regarding its legality in California. As of 2011 this knife is in fact LEGAL to carry. A spring assisted knife is LEGAL as long as the operation involves the use of a stud, hole, disk or in this case a FLIPPER. As long as the opening mechanism is attached to the blade and not on the handle (like the old switchblades were deployed, a button on the side) it is in fact LEGAL to carry. Just had to clarify that to potential buyers of this, or any other assisted opening knife....

Fantastic knife even for the money. Can't possibly go wrong with any product from Kershaw. Kershaw has a reputation for making quality knives for those with limited budgets. Excellent customer service. Now on to the knife:

Pros:

-great worker
-easy to sharpen
-exceptionally durable (I've dropped it countless times on theh ground)
-super fast deployment
-quality steel
-size and helft
-pocket clip
-Ken Onion style blade

Cons:

none

Misc. NOtes:

-flipper takes some effort to deploy blade. My finger was a bit sore for a while until i got used to it, now I don't even notice. I'VE GOT THE STRONGEST INDEX FINGER IN THE WORLD!!!

I received this just the other day. Delivery was very prompt and the knife was new in its box as described. The knife has some good weight to it, which is something I prefer in a working EDC knife. The fit and finish were good overall. And the spring action worked well from the get go. The flipper is well-positioned and allows for easy access and grip from any average length index finger. Upon release, the blade deploys aggressively, with a nice thwack. Lockup is solid. There was no blade play at all. The action is not so sensitive, however, that you have to worry much about accidentally deploying the blade. You need some pressure on the flipper to extend the blade. The blade was fairly sharp out of the box -- and with some quick work on a pocket sharpener became much sharper. Overall, the knife is sturdy and well put together. The blade shape and length is perfect for a functional EDC knife. The belly of the blade is a bit rounded to allow for "heavier" cutting duties and there is a... Read more
